Rebuilding and Resilience after Hurricane Milton (Radio & News)

Hurricane Milton exposed significant vulnerabilities in our ability to manage major storms. Roads were gridlocked and gas stations emptied.

While the impacts to the Tampa region were significant, they could have been much worse. As we recover, it’s essential to rethink our approach. We must learn from the past and focus on retrofitting our communities to be smarter, more resilient, and include infrastructure that can better withstand future storms.

I recently discussed these challenges with Fast Company and WUSF (NPR in Tampa), emphasizing the need for integrated evacuation systems and long-term planning.
